Square Enix has officially announced that its long-running mobile RPG, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (FFBE), will shut down in Japan on October 31, 2025. A Decade of Brave Exvius

Launched in Japan in 2015 and worldwide in 2016, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius quickly became one of Square Enix’s most successful mobile spin-offs. Known for its retro-inspired pixel art, dynamic CG character animations, and classic turn-based combat, the game allowed fans to experience the world of Lapis, where new storylines mixed seamlessly with appearances from iconic characters across the Final Fantasy series.

Players could explore dungeons, take part in strategic battles, and test their skills in PvP arenas. Over the years, FFBE built a loyal global fanbase, with millions logging in daily to continue the adventure.

The Final Farewell

The announcement, shared on the game’s official X (Twitter) account, confirmed the Japanese servers will close on October 31, 2025. The team expressed heartfelt thanks:

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has played FFBE for so many years since its release in 2015.”

As part of its send-off, Square Enix has already disabled in-app purchases and launched a Grand Finale Campaign, which includes:

  • The final chapter of Season 5
  • An epilogue scenario
  • Special in-game events to celebrate the journey

Fans are encouraged to enjoy the game to the fullest before the end-of-service date.

A Memorial Edition After Shutdown

While the servers will go dark, Square Enix is planning to release a Memorial Edition on October 31, 2025. This version will allow players to view their units and Vision Cards, preserving a piece of the game’s legacy even after service ends.

Closing Thoughts

After nearly a decade, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has left a lasting mark as one of the most iconic RPG experiences on mobile. Although many fans are saddened by its closure, the outpouring of gratitude from veteran players highlights just how impactful this journey has been.
