Rumor: Resident Evil Veronica Remake Reportedly Slips to Fall 2027

The Resident Evil Veronica remake may not release until Fall 2027, according to industry insider Dusk Golem. Capcom has officially announced the game for 2027 but has never given a specific release date.

According to Dusk Golem, three separate sources told him the same thing. He admits he hasn't been able to verify it directly and advises taking it with a pinch of salt.

"I trust the people I heard this from, though I haven't personally received direct confirmation. So take this with a grain of salt, even if you believe I try to share this kind of information as accurately as possible, but I'm starting to lean toward it being true."

The insider also stressed that this would not technically be an official delay. Capcom has never announced a release date for the remake, so there is nothing to formally postpone.

Dusk Golem believes a possible slip could explain why the game was absent from Tokyo Game Show, even though previous mainline Resident Evil games reportedly appeared at the event. He also says he already knew Capcom was making late changes to the game, and that its scope and the extra development time it might need were previously unclear. He suggests the studio may have decided to make the project more ambitious, which would require more time.

Resident Evil Veronica was officially announced at Summer Game Fest. The remake is built on Capcom's RE Engine and is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom has not commented on the rumor, so it should be treated as unofficial information for now. As a reminder, it was previously reported that the game would be released in the second quarter of 2027.
