The Coalition has officially released the PC system requirements for Gears of War: E-Day. The game launches on October 6, 2026, and players can now check whether their hardware is ready for the new shooter.

Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel to the legendary 2006 Gears of War, developed by The Coalition. The story takes place fourteen years before the events of the original trilogy and puts players in the middle of the day the Locust Horde first attacked the planet Sera the so-called "Emergence Day," which gives the game its name.

The main characters are younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago characters well known to fans from the original trilogy. The story shows how ordinary soldiers found themselves caught in a sudden invasion of subterranean monsters, and how the war that would define humanity's fate on Sera began.

Gears of War: E-Day will be released on PC (Steam), Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, and will also be available on Game Pass on day one. Notably, the game will be an Xbox console exclusive — there will be no PS5 version.

The developers have prepared three profiles: Minimum, Recommended, and Ultra. The game supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 3.0 upscalers, hardware ray tracing (reflections, shadows, global illumination), a built-in benchmark mode, and support for HDR and ultrawide monitors.

Two important details stand out. First, the game requires an SSD, it won't run on a regular HDD. Second, the graphics card must support hardware ray tracing: cards without this support simply won't be able to launch the game, even if they're technically more powerful than the minimum spec.

The developers also note that actual performance will depend on specific hardware, chosen graphics settings, background processes, and which super-resolution technology is used. More details about the story and gameplay were also revealed during the preview.
