Battlefield 6 Launches New Free Trial From September 15 to 22

Battlefield 6 is free again from September 15 through September 22. Anything you unlock or earn during that window — progression, rewards, the works — carries over if you end up buying the full game.

Getting in doesn't require owning Battlefield 6. Download Battlefield REDSEC, the franchise's free-to-play battle royale mode, on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S, and the trial unlocks on its own. No purchase, no subscription.

The lineup includes four maps and three modes. Two of the maps are old favorites: Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 3 and Wake Island, which dates back to Battlefield 1942. REDSEC's Steam page lists Battle Royale, Gauntlet, and Portal as the available modes — a mix of the classic large-scale fights and the series' more experimental side.

Leaning on REDSEC as the entry point instead of a straight demo is a smart move — battle royale carries far less friction for someone who's never touched the franchise, and free-to-play shooters have proven again and again that they're the cheapest funnel into a paid ecosystem. Whether a week is enough to actually convert skeptics into buyers, though, is a different question; these windows tend to reward players who were already circling the game rather than pulling in genuinely new blood.

EA has done this a few times since launch, usually timed to pull lapsed players back in. For anyone who's been on the fence, this is a cheap way to find out if Battlefield 6 is worth the money — and whatever you earn during the trial won't disappear if you decide it is.
