Xbox Teases New Wolfenstein Title Will Be Announced This Month

Next week, another major gaming event—the Tokyo Game Show 2026—will kick off in the Land of the Rising Sun. Several gaming giants, including Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, Sony, Microsoft, and others, have already confirmed their participation. Speaking of the latter, the company has confirmed that at least two upcoming games—Minecraft Dungeons II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4—will be featured at the event, but users have spotted a very clear hint that the long-awaited sequel to a first-person shooter will be announced there.

This refers to the new Wolfenstein game from MachineGames, the first details of which are believed to have leaked back in February this year. This time, Matthew Ball, the CFO at Xbox, posted a photo on his X page showing a Panzerhund, taken near Bethesda’s headquarters in Rockville—and captioned the post with three emojis with eyes. Naturally, fans took this as a hint that the long-awaited Wolfenstein sequel will be unveiled during Microsoft’s presentation on September 17 at the Tokyo Game Show—but for now, this is nothing more than speculation.

Despite the major restructuring within Xbox that took place in July, according to reliable insider Jez Corden from Windows Central, Microsoft will continue to invest in MachineGames following the strong sales of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—and this includes the development of Wolfenstein 3—as well as financing a TV series based on the franchise. Rumor has it that the series may be released around the same time as the new game in order to attract an additional audience.

As for now, MachineGames hasn’t revealed its plans to announce Wolfenstein 3 on Tokyo Game Show 2026 or anytime soon—so Matthew Ball’s report still should be considered with a grain of salt. But fans will definitely would love to see the announcement taking place next week, for sure.
