GTA 6 New Details—Everything Rockstar Revealed About ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look’ on Netflix

Rockstar Games has finally revealed gameplay footage for GTA 6—undoubtedly its most ambitious project and the most anticipated game of 2026. The premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look took place on Netflix and will be available to all users on the game’s official platforms in a few hours. Now, fans have a clear idea of what GTA 6 will be like, and at the same time, new official details about the project have appeared.

The gaming outlets IGN and Eurogamer have already published exclusive details about GTA 6, providing a more in-depth look at various aspects of the game—the storyline, open world, characters, scale, and side activities. It’s reported that the map in GTA 6 will be twice as large as that of the fifth installment and three times larger than that of Red Dead Redemption 2, and Vice City alone will be twice as large as Los Santos from GTA 5. Rockstar has also put a tremendous amount of work into the animations—walking, running, jumping, swimming, shooting, and more. The game is expected to feature a total of 600,000 unique animations—twice as many as in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Additionally, some plot details have been revealed, along with the level of effort that the developers put into crafting the story. Players are expected to face numerous choices throughout the game—some serious, others less significant—and even minor actions can lead to major consequences. Rockstar also intends to encourage players to play through the game multiple times and blur the line between the open world and the main missions, while a more thorough exploration of the world will influence the entire experience. Moreover, it’s reported that Lucia’s electronic ankle monitor plays an important role in the GTA 6 storyline.

When it comes to the dynamic between Jason and Lucia, the two protagonists of GTA 6, Rockstar has really put in the work here as well. The pair really feels like living, breathing characters—for instance, if you spend some time alone playing as Jason, Lucia will reach out to check if you’re okay, and ignoring her messages could negatively impact their relationship and future. That said, whether to pursue a romantic relationship is entirely up to you—Rockstar has confirmed that they don’t want to impose any ideas on players. Of course, if you spend a lot of time together in the open world, the likelihood of a romantic relationship naturally increases. Not to mention that the complexity of your relationship can influence how you act during heists or story missions.

As for confirmed gameplay details and mechanics, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will feature a fast-travel system using taxis and buses. You can also customize your character’s appearance in detail, go to the gym, eat (though overeating leads to obesity), visit the zoo, scroll through your social media feed, go kayaking, play mini-golf and pool, go parachuting, and more. NPCs in GTA 6 will be incredibly diverse, and in some areas, their numbers will rival rush-hour crowds. At the same time, they’ll also exhibit realistic behavior patterns. Rockstar has also significantly improved police behavior—officers will recognize characters’ clothing and distinguishing features, and the higher the wanted level, the harder it will be to escape. What’s more, at level six, there’s a chance the entire state will be hunting you down. At the same time, police will no longer appear on the minimap, which will make navigating the map much more difficult and increase the likelihood of running into trouble.

NPC density is insane.

It is also reported that driving in GTA 6 will not be as arcade-style as in the fifth installment—it will be more realistic; it is described as something between GTA 4 and GTA 5. As is well known, cars will need to be refueled, and electric cars will need to be charged regularly.

Naturally, following the premiere of Grand Theft Auto: An Extended Look, Rockstar will likely begin talking more actively about the game, revealing even more details—both about the gameplay and the storyline. But it’s now absolutely clear that the marketing campaign for GTA 6 has officially begun.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as how GTA 6 is reshaping the 2026 game calendar and everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
