Refugium Games Released New Update for Agefield High: Rock the School

One of this month’s most controversial releases was Agefield High: Rock the School from Refugium Games. It’s not that this game was among the summer’s most anticipated titles, but it did attract fans of Rockstar Games’ Bully—thanks to its concept of playing as a schoolboy, the ability to attend classes, and its 2000s setting.

Unfortunately, the game was a huge flop. Its Metacritic score is 30, with a User Score of 4.6, and Steam users have also given it mostly negative reviews. The main reason for this is poor optimization, but players are also criticizing the empty open world, dull gameplay, poorly executed animations, and the high price for a game of this caliber.

Shortly after such a disastrous release, Refugium Games released a patch that fixed some of the issues —one they noted they had worked on all night without sleep. A little over a week after the game’s release, the studio announced a new update for Agefield High: Rock the School, which fixes crashes and is primarily intended for PCs with low-end specs. The developers also recommend that such users add the -d3d11 parameter to the game’s properties in Steam.

The new update focuses on fixing crashes on lower-end devices. This includes startup issues, crashes at the tattoo shop on Steam Deck, and crashes during cutscenes.

Please note, every machine is different. If you are still experiencing crashes, please let us know!

Despite the developers' desperate attempts to fix the numerous issues, reviews for Agefield High: Rock the School aren't improving. As of now, the game has over 65% negative reviews on Steam, and the number of active players barely exceeds 100.

Agefield High: Rock the School is now available on PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will release later this year.
