Take-Two Interactive Lost Almost $1 Billion Because of GTA 6 Gameplay Leaks

The GTA 6 gameplay leak from hacker Cyberleek has become one of the most discussed incidents of the year, especially given the timing, coming just before Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the game's presentation set for Netflix on August 27. Naturally, this also hit Take-Two Interactive's stock price, and new data shows the company lost a significant amount of money as a result.

According to Yahoo Finance data, during the period when large-scale GTA 6 gameplay leaks started surfacing, Take-Two's stock dropped from $242 to $235 and then further to $233. In dollar terms, that cost the company roughly $1 billion. Since then, though, the numbers have stabilized, with shares now trading at nearly $244.

Amid all this, and with the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation at Netflix presentation approaching, Take-Two appears to be taking serious action. According to a new Kotaku report, the company has launched a detailed investigation into the source of the leak and has reportedly filed federal court subpoenas targeting Microsoft and Discord, aiming to identify Cyberleek and anyone potentially working with them. Meanwhile, speculation has circulated on social media naming a specific individual as a possible suspect, though that hasn't been confirmed.

Despite Take-Two's legal moves, a new, sixth GTA 6 gameplay clip surfaced today. It shows Jason driving around Vice City at night in a luxury car, and the graphics and detail appear noticeably more refined than in earlier leaks, suggesting a more recent build. To recap, Cyberleek shows no signs of stopping for now.
