Xbox Will Announce New Game on Gamescom 2026; First Details Revealed

Gamescom 2026—one of the year’s biggest gaming events—is set to take place in Germany next week. It is likely that lots of gaming studios will reveal their upcoming projects, which have not yet been officially confirmed, and according to the latest reports, one such game will be a new, mysterious Xbox title.

The well-known insider NateTheHate wrote about this on his X page. While chatting with users, he confirmed that Xbox is preparing to announce a game at the upcoming Gamescom 2026, writing the following:

“I've heard of a neat Xbox announcement that should be at Gamescom. A game announcement.”

During the conversation, the insider also s hared some details about the upcoming announcement. According to him, the rights to the new game, as well as to the franchise, belong to Microsoft, but development is being handled by a separate studio, which is why the project is generating a fair amount of interest. Furthermore, NateTheHate confirmed that it is not a shooter, nor is it Banjo-Kazooie, but rather a new franchise, and the release could theoretically happen next year.

Meanwhile, a lively discussion has broken out amongst users as to what this game might be —Reddit users most frequently mention the third installment of Ori, a sequel to As Dusk Falls and Ghostwire: Tokyo 2—but so far there have been no official hints regarding a new project, so this is nothing more than speculation.

Xbox has previously confirmed the line-up of games set to feature at Gamescom 2026 —visitors will be able to try out Fable, Gears of War: E-Day (story campaign), Minecraft Dungeons II, Stranger Than Heaven, Metro 2039, and the 6v6 multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Additionally, previously released titles—Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024—will also have their own stands.
