Blizzard Posts Third-Highest Revenue in Studio History Ahead of BlizzCon 2026

Windows Central reporter Jez Corden has revealed details from an internal memo sent by Blizzard President Johanna Faries to employees. The message arrived ahead of BlizzCon 2026, outlining the studio's financial performance against broader headwinds across Microsoft's gaming division, where overall gaming revenue fell by 11% alongside a wave of layoffs.

In the memo, the studio head emphasized the company's leading position within the Xbox gaming branch:

"Blizzard completed FY26 as the most successful studio in the Xbox division, and this past year was the third largest financial year in Blizzard's history in terms of gross revenue."

Faries placed particular focus on consistent financial momentum and the strong performance of core franchises:

"FY25 and FY26 marked our first back-to-back years of growth since FY17," Faries explained. "In particular, Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred and Overwatch achieved exceptional results, with Overwatch posting its best quarterly performance since 2022."

According to the president, these strong results will allow the studio to allocate additional capital toward game development, staffing, and initiatives that will "shape the future of Blizzard."

The final part of the memo focused on expectations for the upcoming convention:

"This weekend will be a reflection of the bold and collaborative work of everyone reading this," she wrote. "I hope this event helps shine a light on the work being done at Blizzard and serves as a powerful springboard into a new era of momentum and excitement as part of our mission to bring joy and a sense of belonging to communities around the world."

Blizzard is expected to detail its ongoing live-service roadmaps and unveil its next slate of projects during the BlizzCon 2026 presentations.
