Nintendo Is Looking to Release Special Switch 2 and Pro Controller Related to The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary

With The Legend of Zelda franchise turning 40 this year, it looks like Nintendo is planning to release a special limited-edition Switch 2, along with a Pro Controller styled after the series, sometime soon. At least, that's what a new leak suggests.

X user necrolipe claims to have gotten hold of a Switch 2 and Pro Controller made to mark Zelda's 40th anniversary. The photo shared shows the console and controller decked out in black, gold, and green - although Nintendo hasn't made any official announcement yet.

Nintendo may be gearing up to reveal this special edition soon, alongside more details on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the remake of the original 1998 game announced this June. Some reports suggest the game could launch a week before GTA 6, on November 11, but the official release date is still unconfirmed.

A film based on the franchise is also in development, with a premiere set for April 30, 2027. It was recently announced Uli Latukefu, playing main antagonist Ganondorf, has joined the cast, alongside Dichen Lachman, Yvonne Strahovski, and the late Sam Neill, for whom this will be his final role—he managed to film his scenes before passing away last month.

The lead roles in the film were played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link) and Bo Bragason (Princess Zelda). The Legend of Zelda is directed by Wes Ball, known for The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
