Capcom Reveals Resident Evil Requiem Has Managed to Attract Young Audiences—Players from 20 to 29
Released this February, Resident Evil Requiem is considered one of the best, if not the best, games of 2026. That's not just because of the critical praise—it's also become a genuine financial success for Capcom and the fastest-selling entry in the franchise, as confirmed by a recently published financial report.
What's more, the latest data shows Requiem has also driven a significant boost in sales across the entire franchise, which points to one thing: the game's pulled in a new audience previously unfamiliar with the series, and they're now diving deeper into the earlier titles.
Capcom says Resident Evil Requiem led a huge surge in sales for the Resident Evil series!
"Sales of Resident Evil series titles grew amid rising interest in Resident Evil Requiem. We have also seen new users who encountered the series by purchasing past titles, creating a virtuous cycle in which sales of both new and past titles grow together.
With Resident Evil Veronica, we will likewise work to further expand sales of the series."
Speaking of the audience, Capcom has also found that nearly half of Requiem's players are between 20 and 29 years old, suggesting a real "rejuvenation" of the player base. That came up during a recent Q&A session following the studio's financial report, as you can check out below:
Capcom reports nearly half of Resident Evil Requiem players are between 20 and 29 years old.
During the Q&A session of Capcom's First Quarter FY2027 financial results conference call, Capcom revealed that players aged 20 to 29 account for approximately half of the audience for both Resident Evil Requiem and PRAGMATA. The company said it is actively working to attract younger players across all of its franchises through game design and marketing tailored to each title. Promotional campaigns are also being adapted for different regions, while younger developers are helping shape ideas aimed at reaching new audiences.
The studio is officially working on a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, though no official details have been shared yet. Rumor has it this will be a large-scale expansion featuring characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Alyssa Ashcroft, Claire Redfield, and Ada Wong. The story DLC is reportedly slated for 2027, following the launch of Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the original 2000 game.
