DigixArt and THQ Nordic Teasing New Installment of Road 96

At the recent THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, DigixArt apparently unveiled the first teaser for a new game set in the Road 96 universe. The game’s title wasn't revealed, but fans immediately spotted several familiar characters and the desert setting from the first entry and are now trying to piece together what the new game might actually be about.

In the debut teaser, John, one of the central characters from Road 96 and its prequel, Road 96: Mile 0, is heard over the radio learning that Fanny, another character from the original game, is alive—raising some questions given how Road 96 ended. The developers haven't shared any details on the new project yet, but it's clear they're continuing the story, at least for John and Fanny. Judging by the teaser, the studio's new project is running on an updated engine, given how much sharper the visuals look. It’s also worth noting that DigixArt released a new IP this year, Tides of Tomorrow, which follows a similar narrative structure to Road 96 but is set in a post-apocalyptic oceanic world, where the goal is to find a cure for a disease called Plastemia. Tides of Tomorrow also uses an asynchronous multiplayer system—the world, though linear in structure, shifts based on choices made by you and other players alike.

As for DigixArt's new Road 96 project, its title, plot, genre, release date, and platforms all remain unknown for now. The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase also brought news on continued support for Gothic 1 Remake, also published by THQ; meanwhile, Alkimia Interactive hinted at a Gothic 2 Remake set to release next year and confirmed when Gothic II Complete Classic and Gothic 3 Classic will launch on consoles.
