Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Has Surpassed GTA 6’s Views Record In First 24 Hours

July 20 was a big day for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans. Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday—an upcoming crossover set to premiere on December 18, 2026. The trailer gave us our first look at Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who previously portrayed Tony Stark in the MCU, as well as the return of numerous characters, including the X-Men from the FOX universe.

Undoubtedly, this event attracted enormous attention not just from fans but also from regular viewers, too. As expected, the Russo brothers’ new film broke several records, and perhaps the biggest one is related to the most anticipated video game of 2026—GTA 6.

According to Global Box Office, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer received over 500 million views in its first 24 hours, surpassing Grand Theft Auto VI (475 million) and becoming the second such trailer in Disney history—a milestone previously achieved by Deadpool and Wolverine. The top spot currently belongs to Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (set in the MCU as well), which beat GTA 6 back in April when its trailer came out, as you can check out below:

Overall, it has also beaten the GTA 6 trailer (475M views), becoming the 2nd biggest trailer launch in history.

As is well known, it’s been over a year since Rockstar Games released the last GTA 6 trailer. With less than four months until the game is released, fans are getting worried because there haven't been any official updates. Perhaps the fact that Marvel Studios managed to break the record for the most views of a game trailer in the first 24 hours will push the developers to release it as soon as possible. There is also a strong feeling that the third GTA 6 trailer will set a new record for the first 24 hours, dethroning both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. As for Avengers: Doomsday, according to the movie’s synopsis, it follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they're set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered. Besides Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the cast also includes Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), James Marsden (Cyclops), and more.
