How Spider-Man: Brand New Day Broke GTA 6's Viewership Record
Last month, Marvel Entertainment, in cooperation with Sony Pictures Entertainment, released an official trailer for this year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This movie remains one of the most anticipated to release in 2026, and there is no surprise why the trailer broke some of the records—including the massive one.
As revealed via Global Box Office, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has broken the record for the number of views in the first 24 hours, racking up over 500 million views. The previous record was held by Grand Theft Auto VI trailer (475 million views), but the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is also the first-ever trailer to reach 500 million views in 24 hours, which is really impressive.
But it seems like this record may not last long, as we know Rockstar Games will release the new trailer of GTA 6 this summer, when the marketing campaign for the game officially starts. Moreover, there is a chance developers would like to beat Brand New Day's record earlier by releasing the trailer this month, as rumors are speculating it might happen. Furthermore, there is another, highly anticipated project of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—Avengers: Doomsday—and given how many views Spider-Man: Brand New Day received, Doomsday is likely to get even more.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to premiere on July 31. The movie’s cast includes Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Zendaya (MJ), Jacob Batalon (Ned), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher), Michael Mando (Mac Gargan/Scorpion), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Sadie Sink, who is rumored to play Jean Grey, the member of X-Men. The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed such MCU titles as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Wonder-Wan. As for GTA 6, the game is releasing on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
