The Coalition Considered Making Gears of War 6 Instead of Gears of War: E-Day

This year, we will witness the release of a new Gears of War video game—Gears of War: E-Day, which will be a prequel to a whole game series. The Coalition’s latest title still doesn’t have a release date, but various sources have repeatedly stated that the project will be released this year.

However, it is now being revealed that instead of Gears of War: E-Day, we could have gotten a completely different video game—the sixth installment, which could have been the continuation of Gears of War 4 and Gears 5. It was recently shared by Liam J. McIntyre, the voice actor of JD Fenix. He confirmed this during the conversation with X social media users and hopes the studio will come back to this idea, as you can check out below:

“I hope they go back to it, but I love those guys and just want them to make a game they feel nails the gears experience everyone loves. That'd be awesome. And hey, if that leads back to the trilogy, Happy days.”

We did gears 4 and 5, and there was a suggestion that maybe there would be a Gears 6. But the team wanted to try something new as I understand it. And honestly, it looks great. Can't wait to play.”

“I have a solve for that regardless of what you choose. Hoping that del is Canon, Marcus loses his mind and goes rogue, and you learn JD has kind of been revived and controlled by swarm, his dad has to fight him. But somehow you save him. Not sure how yet.

Or if it matters lol.”

As we know, the events of Gears of War: E-Day take place 14 years before the original title. We will see the first days of Emergence Day and focus on Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. The game is under development at The Coalition in cooperation with People Can Fly (Painkiller, Outriders).

Xbox also announced the new Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 7, immediately after Gears of War: E-Day Direct show is confirmed to take place. We will probably see the new gameplay footage, and the release date is very likely to be finally revealed.
