Gears of War: E-Day and Halo: Campaign Evolved Are Still Expected to Release in 2026

Some of the upcoming games from Xbox Game Studios still don’t have release dates, and the fans are worried they could be postponed. Specifically, it's related to Gears of War: E-Day, the prequel to the original Gears of War title, and Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the original Halo, Halo: Combat Evolved.

According to recent information from The Verge's Tom Warren, both titles are set to release this year—Halo: Campaign Evolved in summer and Gears of War: E-Day in the second half of 2026. Since then, we have seen no confirmation from developing studios or Microsoft, but during the recent Game Developer Conference, the Vice President of Next Generation at Xbox, Jason Ronald, confirmed that both upcoming video games are still being eyed to launch in 2026, though he didn’t mention directly when exactly it could happen. “Xbox has an incredible lineup of game releases this year, from the return of iconic first-party franchises like Halo and Gears of War, to major titles from our partners across the globe, alongside bold creativity from independent developers”

This week, Microsoft also announced Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 7, and immediately after the show, we will see Gears of War: E-Day Direct, where we will probably receive new footage of the upcoming video game, and the release date may be possibly revealed as well.

As for now, neither Halo: Campaign Evolved nor Gears of War: E-Day has release dates.
