Ubisoft May Reveal Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe Next Month at Gamescom 2026

While Ubisoft celebrates the release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced—a remake of the original 2013 game that already sold 2 million copies within its first day—there are new rumors that the franchise's next mainline installment, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, might be revealed this August at one of the year's biggest gaming events.

According to well-known insider Assassin's Creed xj0nathan, there is a possibility that Ubisoft will reveal Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe at Gamescom 2026, which is taking place from August 26 to 30 in Cologne, Germany. The company has already confirmed its attendance but has not revealed which projects will be shown. The insider also suggests that the unveiling of Codename Hexe might be tied to the game's setting, as it takes place in 16th-century Germany during the Holy Roman Empire era.

“There's a good chance that Assassin's Creed Hexe will be presented next month at Gamescom!

It's hard not to see this as a sign: the show takes place in Germany, the very location of future events for the game.”

Nevertheless, the insider does not cite any official sources, so this report should be taken with a grain of salt. Since the announcement of Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe in 2022, we haven't heard many details about the game. As previously mentioned, it is set in the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire and is said to feature a female protagonist named Anika, who is believed to be a descendant of Claudia Auditore, Ezio's sister. Additionally, with Jean Guesdon taking over as creative director for Codename Hexe earlier this year, all magical elements have reportedly been removed, making the game more grounded and realistic. The release date for Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is also unknown, but according to reliable Ubisoft insider Rogue, the studio is looking to release the game next June —though it could also be postponed due to complicated development.

Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is confirmed to be in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
