Santa Monica Studio Teases God of War Laufey Will Release In 2027

God of War: Laufey, announced at the State of Play presentation last month, is one of several upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusives that still doesn't have an official release date. Several gaming insiders, including Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, have previously suggested that the game could launch in the first half of 2027—and the developers themselves have teased that God of War: Laufey will release sometime next year.

On its X page, Santa Monica Studio posted an update about the game's appearance at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2026, scheduled to take place from July 23 to 26. Alongside the post, the developers also revealed that their upcoming title will be available on physical discs, indirectly confirming that God of War: Laufey will release before January 2028. Considering previous rumors, it now seems quite likely that God of War: Laufey will actually launch in the first half of 2027.

As is known, earlier this month Sony announced that the company will stop releasing new games on discs, and it seems that God of War: Laufey will be one of the last PlayStation 5 exclusives available in both physical and digital formats. Speaking of Sony's presence at San Diego Comic-Con, alongside God of War: Laufey, titles like Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls have also been confirmed to appear. The developers, along with the cast of all three projects, will share exclusive details about their games and provide deeper insights into the behind-the-scenes development.

For now, the release date of God of War: Laufey remains unknown. The game is in development exclusively for PlayStation 5.
