Clash of Clans July Balance Update Targets Dragon Meta Ahead of Crafting Season

Supercell has revealed a new round of Clash of Clans balance changes for July 2026, introducing a mix of buffs and nerfs aimed at improving the Town Hall 18 meta before the upcoming Crafting Season. The update primarily targets the dominance of Dragon-based strategies while strengthening several underused troops.

The biggest nerfs affect Dragon Duke and Dragon Rider. Dragon Duke's trap damage reduction has been cut from 40% to 20%, making traps a more effective counter against the Hero. Meanwhile, the highest-level Dragon Rider receives a slight reduction to both HP (6,000 → 5,900) and DPS (510 → 490) as Supercell looks to tone down Dragon-heavy armies without making drastic changes.

Several troops are receiving buffs instead. Electro Dragon gains increased HP and damage at its top two levels after underperforming in recent war compositions, while the Druid receives a small healing boost to improve its viability.

The largest improvements go to Meteor Golem, which Supercell believes became too weak following previous balance adjustments. The troop now gains significant increases to both HP and DPS across all levels, with its spawned Meteormites receiving similar buffs. The developer hopes these changes will make the troop's split-and-merge mechanic a more competitive option again.

The update also reworks the Logger used by the Town Hall Guardian. Its rolling range has been reduced by two tiles, while its close-range pushback has increased from 1 tile to 1.5 tiles, limiting its long-range control without weakening its impact during ground attacks.

Finally, Supercell is temporarily reverting the interaction between Flame Blower and Rocket Backpack after a bug caused Rocket Backpack to fail to activate in some situations. The current behavior will remain in place until a permanent fix is released in a future update.
