Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Pre-Orders Have Already Surpassed 2024’s Skull & Bones on Steam

Just over a day remains until the official launch of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced—a remake of the original title, released in 2013. Fans cannot wait to explore the enhanced Caribbean, sing their favorite pirate shanties, and dive deep into the game to see whether Black Flag Resynced truly feels like a remake or is simply a remastered version of the original.

Nevertheless, looking at preliminary sales on Steam, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is already generating significantly more interest than Ubisoft's other pirate-themed game released in 2024, Skull & Bones. According to a new report from Alinea Analytics, pre-orders for Black Flag Resynced currently stand at around 300,000 copies, potentially bringing in $14 million in revenue. From pre-orders alone, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has already surpassed Skull & Bones—another pirate simulator from Ubisoft—whose total sales on Steam have reached 150,000 copies since its release.

Moreover, analyst Rhys Elliott claims that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is generating more interest among fans than the franchise's previous installment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, released in 2025. According to Elliott, pre-orders for the remake exceed those of its predecessor by nearly 5.5 times, clearly demonstrating how Ubisoft has succeeded in capturing players' attention. It was also reported earlier that, if Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced becomes a financial hit, Ubisoft might develop new remakes within the franchise. There have already been rumors and teasers from the studio itself about a potential remake of the original 2007 game.

Ubisoft is also developing the next mainline title in the series, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, rumored to release next June, as well as a multiplayer title, Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus, whose official logo reportedly leaked recently.
