Life is Strange: Reunion Exceeded Square Enix’s Sales Expectations

In March of this year, Deck Nine and Square Enix released the latest installment of Life is Strange titled Reunion, which concluded the story of Max Caulfield and Chloe Price that began in the original 2015 game. Fans continue to wonder if this is the final chapter in the entire franchise; however, a new insider report offers a positive update on the matter.

Reddit users have uncovered data from Square Enix’s latest financial report, revealing that Life is Strange: Reunion has exceeded all the company’s sales expectations. The same success applies to DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, which was released in February this year. For Life is Strange fans, this is especially encouraging news, considering that the previous title, Double Exposure, as noted in the report, fell short of financial expectations. Now, there is renewed hope that the game series will continue to evolve and thrive—albeit without Max Caulfield and Chloe Price. You can check out more detailed information from Square Enix’s financial report below:

Life is Strange: Reunion exceeded expectations

Given the poor performance of the previous title, we have revised the pricing strategy and taken other measures, but because the title will launch at fiscal year-end, uncertainty remains high, and we believe it is necessary to assess it cautiously.

In the fourth quarter, Life is Strange: Reunion and DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined exceeded expectations, and several other factors also contributed to operating income.

Before the release of Life is Strange: Reunion, one retailer revealed that the game would be the final installment in the entire franchise, which could disappoint many fans. However, Deck Nine and Square Enix have yet to make any official statements on the matter. Given the game's strong sales, there is still a possibility that a new title could be announced in the near future. Moreover, the book Life is Strange: Welcome to Caledon University may have teased what the next game in the franchise could be like. Its storyline follows Safi and Diamond as they search for characters from previous Life is Strange installments, including Daniel from Life is Strange 2 and Alex from Life is Strange: True Colors. Currently, work is underway on adapting the first part of Life is Strange, with Amazon handling the production. The lead roles will be played by Tatum Grace Hopkins (Max Caulfield) and Maisy Stella (Chloe Price). An unofficial first look at them was recently shared on social media. Filming is set to begin in the coming days, as the creators have already arrived in Vancouver, where the shooting will take place.
