Prototype 3 Is Rumored to Be In Development with Alex Mercer Returning as the Main Character

Rumors have been circulating online for quite some time that the Prototype game series might soon get a new installment—either a sequel or a remastered version of the first two games. This latest rumor has given fans renewed hope, although some remain skeptical about its authenticity.

According to the Arabic gaming media outlet BlueGamingSA, a new third installment of Prototype is currently in development, featuring Alex Mercer as the protagonist—the main character from the first game and the antagonist in Prototype 2. However, fans remain somewhat skeptical about the source's reliability, as it previously claimed that the Devil May Cry remake would be announced during State of Play, which did not happen.

Regarding the previously mentioned Devil May Cry remake, it is believed that Capcom is indeed working on the game, although it is still in the very early stages of development. It will likely be some time before the studio makes an official announcement about the project.

Although the developers of Prototype, Radical Entertainment, rebranded as New Radical Games in February of this year, Jez Corden, a representative of Windows Central and a trusted insider, has repeatedly stated that there is currently no work being done on a new installment of the franchise.
