Free-to-Play Co-op The Witcher Title Is Reportedly In Development for PC and Mobiles

As is well known, CD Projekt RED is currently working on several games set in The Witcher universe. This includes the fourth installment, which will kick off a new trilogy, the multiplayer spin-off Project Sirius, as well as a remake of the first game and DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past —both of which are being developed by the studio Fool's Theory. Unexpectedly, information has now surfaced online about yet another project within the universe that is currently in development.

According to a new report from MP1st, another unannounced game set in The Witcher universe is currently in development. This free-to-play co-op action RPG is being prepared for release on PC and mobile devices, with no plans for a console launch. The upcoming project is said to resemble Horizon Steel Frontiers in style and scope—a spin-off of the main franchise that is an MMO-RPG scheduled for a tentative release in February 2027.

The source also shared the first details about the project. It is reported that the game is set in the year 1230, when Geralt of Rivia was still very young. Players will have the opportunity to create their own witcher, with extensive customization options similar to various online games. Regarding the gameplay itself, it is expected that players, whether solo or cooperatively, will be able to take on contracts to eliminate monsters in a variety of locations typical for the series—dark forests, densely populated villages, and abandoned ruins. The combat system will allow players to choose abilities from different witcher schools, and, as in the single-player games, they will be able to block attacks, dodge, parry, and execute finishing moves.

Although the source does not specify which studio is handling the development, the report mentions CD Projekt RED's partnership with Scopely, announced in 2025. Scopely is well-known for creating mobile free-to-play games like Stumble Guys and MONOPOLY GO!, so it's almost certain that they are the ones working on The Witcher game.

However, so far, neither CD Projekt RED nor Scopely have commented on the information about a new Witcher game, so this report should be taken as a rumor.
