Insider Claims Naughty Dog Is Working On a New Uncharted Video Game

Although Naughty Dog is busy developing a new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, announced for 2024, rumors suggest the studio is also actively working on new entries in the franchises that made it famous. In particular, there’s a lot of buzz about a new Uncharted installment, with talk of its development picking up again.

New speculation about Uncharted 5 has surfaced following a recent episode of the VGC Podcast, where they discussed the highlights of the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. Specifically, Jordan Middler, editor-in-chief of Video Games Chronicle, stated that Naughty Dog is definitely working on a new Uncharted title, although it is still far from completion. “Uncharted. Obviously a new Uncharted is coming, like it's on the way. But they they left Uncharted at its peak, and didn't do a new one for a very long time.”

Recently, Middler also mentioned that Sony is considering revisiting some of its old franchises that haven't seen new releases in a long time. Specifically, he mentioned the Ape Escape series and also heard that a new game set in the inFamous universe might be in development —though it's being created by a different studio, not Sucker Punch Productions.

Regarding the new Uncharted installment, earlier this year, the well-known insider Alir also revealed that Naughty Dog is working on a new Uncharted video game with Nathan Drake expected to make an appearance, although he's unlikely to be the main protagonist. The game will be directed by Shaun Escayg, who also directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Additionally, Alir mentioned that the studio is secretly developing a third installment of The Last of Us.
