Insider Reveals Metro 2039 Will Release In February 2027

With the approach of the upcoming gaming shows, more and more studios are announcing the release dates of their games. For example, at the recent State of Play event, we learned when games such as Control Resonant (September 24), Silent Hill: Townfall (also September 24), Onimusha: Way of the Sword (September 25), and Tomb Raider: Legacy of the Atlantis (February 12, 2027) will be released. It seems that the next already announced project to get an official release date will be Metro 2039 - a new game from 4A Games, which was showcased as part of Xbox First Look in mid-April. The developers previously stated that the game would be released this winter without specifying any time frame, but a new report from reliable gaming insider Alir confirms that Metro 2039, just like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, will be released in February 2027.

It is possible that an official confirmation regarding the release date of Metro 2039 will take place today as part of the Summer Game Fest. However, most likely, as in April, it will be announced at the Microsoft - Xbox Games Showcase presentation, which will take place a little later, on June 7. The events of Metro 2039 are taking place in 2039's moscow, after the events of Metro Exodus, and returning to the franchise's roots, focusing on gameplay in enclosed spaces, including tunnels and catacombs. The game will feature a brand-new playable character called Stranger, who fights against an authoritarian neo-Nazi movement called the Novoreich, led by their Fuhrer—the legendary Spartan, Hunter. Previously, the game also received praise from Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the Metro books, who is involved in the game’s development as one of its writers.
