Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake Is Very Likely to Be Announced at Tonight’s Summer Game Fest

Less than 12 hours are left until the main gaming event of the summer - Summer Game Fest, where several major announcements of previously unconfirmed games are expected to take place, including those that have long been rumored.

One of these games is the remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is supposedly in active development at Capcom. And although the studio has not commented on any reports about the project, over the past few months we have learned a lot of information about the game. Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake is the most extensive among all the updated versions of its games, and it is also listed as one of Capcom's top priorities at the moment.

New confirmations have appeared that the upcoming Code Veronica remake will be announced at Summer Game Fest. This is reported by the German publication ScreenFire, citing its insiders. In their opinion, the likelihood of the game being shown is 99%. In the past, they have already predicted the announcement of Resident Evil Requiem, which turned out to be true.

As for Resident Evil Requiem, it is known that Capcom is developing a story DLC for the game. It is reported that it will include two story expansions – one dedicated to Leon S. Kennedy and Alyssa Ashcroft, and the second to Chris Redfield and Ada Wong.

In turn, on the eve of a possible announcement of Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake, insider Marcox shared new details about the game, citing internal Capcom leaks. In particular, he wrote on his X page that the game will bring back the ability to craft special ammunition—including flaming and explosive crossbow bolts—as well as a deep weapon upgrade system. For example, a regular pistol can be turned into a fast semi-automatic with the help of special parts. The insider also claims that Capcom has put significant work into the lighting in the remake, and using a lighter or flashlight will be essential for identifying passageways, and this will also have an impact on encounters with enemies.
