Elden Ring Will Receive New DLC This August

Fans of Elden Ring have a new reason to return to the Lands Between. FromSoftware has officially confirmed that new DLC is coming to Elden Ring on August 28 alongside the launch of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2.

While players shouldn't expect another expansion on the scale of Shadow of the Erdtree, the upcoming content pack will add several new customization options, classes, and equipment to the award-winning RPG.

New Elden Ring DLC Arrives on August 28

The newly announced DLC, called the Tarnished Pack, will launch on August 28 for existing Elden Ring players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

Although FromSoftware has not yet revealed every detail, the studio has already confirmed that the pack will include:

  • Two new classes:Heavy Knight
  • Knight of Ides
  • New weapons
  • Additional armor and character skins
  • New customization options for Torrent

Some of the upcoming content can already be spotted in the reveal trailer for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2.

Pricing has only been confirmed for Japan so far, where the DLC will cost 550 yen. Based on the regional pricing, many players expect the Tarnished Pack to launch globally for approximately $5.

Tarnished Edition Brings the Complete Elden Ring Experience to Switch 2

The new DLC is being released alongside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which marks the game's debut on Nintendo Switch 2.

The package includes:

  • The base game
  • Shadow of the Erdtree expansion
  • All content from the Tarnished Pack

Nintendo Switch 2 players will receive the new content as part of the complete edition without needing a separate purchase.

The game is currently priced at $79.99, and players who pre-order will receive two bonus gestures:

  • Ring Pose
  • Miquella's Ring

Players can also unlock these gestures through co-op play with someone who already owns them.

Shadow of the Erdtree Set a High Standard

Elden Ring has continued to receive support since its record-breaking launch in 2022. The game became one of the most successful releases in FromSoftware's history, selling millions of copies worldwide and winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion proved equally successful. The DLC earned widespread praise from both critics and players and even received a Game of the Year nomination despite not being a standalone release.

Because of that success, some fans had hoped for another major expansion. However, the Tarnished Pack appears to be a smaller content release focused primarily on new gameplay options and cosmetics.

What's Next for FromSoftware?

While Elden Ring players prepare for the August DLC launch, many are already looking ahead to FromSoftware's future projects.

The studio's next major release is expected to be The Duskbloods, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive that appears to blend the gothic atmosphere of Bloodborne with a stronger multiplayer focus.

Meanwhile, the Elden Ring franchise itself continues to expand beyond gaming. An official Elden Ring movie is currently in development, fueling speculation that FromSoftware could revisit the IP again in the future.

Whether the developer returns to Elden Ring, revisits franchises such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, or creates an entirely new IP remains unknown.
