Rockstar Games Plans to Modernize NPC System from Red Dead Redemption in GTA 6

There are plenty of aspects as to why gamers are so thrilled about Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated video game of 2026 and one of the biggest games in history. From the two trailers released by Rockstar Games over quite a long period of time, we have been convinced that GTA 6 will be one of the most, if not the most, expansive games not only in terms of an open world but also in activities, opportunities, and intensity in the story campaign—and much more in every sense than its predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Speaking of which, GTA 6 will likely use some mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2, which was also predicted by former Rockstar Games developer Rob Carr —it could be, for instance, the Dead Eye system. Thanks to the leaks, we know that Grand Theft Auto VI will feature an NPC dialogue system that is rumored to be much more expanded than in Red Dead Redemption 2.

A new report from Legion Looterana reveals that Rockstar Games recorded more than 35,000 lines of dialogue for GTA 5, with 300+ voice actors more involved. Moreover, the studios used dynamic AI by building NPC mechanics in the game in order to make it more advanced. As a result, we can expect that NPCs will behave as realistically as possible - for example, reacting to the weather as well as to the main characters' reputations, talking about their good or bad deeds on social media.

“New leaks about the NPC system in Leonida suggest that Rockstar is going to shatter the RDR2 standard:

+35,000 lines of dialogue

+300 voice actors

Dynamic AI: NPCs will react to the weather, the time of day... and your social media reputation!”

Speaking of social media in GTA 6, it’s been rumored that the game will feature the clones of TikTok and Instagram Reels, where citizens of Vice City will reveal content related to what’s going on in the game—and that’s a big step to make the world of Grand Theft Auto VI more alive.

The fans are still anticipating the new trailer of GTA 6, which is heavily rumored to be released this month, as Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, will hold the next financial earnings call, scheduled for May 21, after which we can expect some new information to be unveiled.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far - the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more.
