Brawl Stars Starr Nova Challenge Arrives Earlier Than Expected

The upcoming Brawl Stars Starr Nova Challenge is reportedly launching much sooner than many players expected. Earlier leaks suggested the event would arrive near the end of the current Starr Patrol season on May 28, but new information now points to a release date of May 12, 2026.

Players who successfully complete the challenge will be able to unlock an exclusive Starr Nova profile icon for free, alongside several additional rewards.

Starr Nova Challenge Rewards

The event is expected to run until May 18, 2026 and will feature a series of nine matches spread across three different game modes.

Winning all matches rewards players with:

  • A free Starr Nova profile icon
  • An additional split-version profile icon
  • Multiple Starr Drops and Nova Drops

Because the Starr Nova event is already active, players can also collect crystals during challenge matches and temporarily transform into Starr Patrol skins.

Here’s the full reward breakdown:

Knockout

  • 1st Win: Starr Drop
  • 2nd Win: Starr Drop
  • 3rd Win: Starr Nova Profile Icon

Brawl Ball

  • 1st Win: Starr Drop
  • 2nd Win: Nova Drop
  • 3rd Win: Nova Drop

Gem Grab

  • 1st Win: Starr Drop
  • 2nd Win: Nova Drop
  • 3rd Win: Nova Drop

Players will only have four total lives during the challenge. Losing four matches ends the run, although retries can reportedly be purchased using Gems.

Best Brawlers for the Starr Nova Challenge

Each stage of the challenge uses a different map and game mode, requiring different team compositions and strategies.

The maps are rumored to closely resemble those previously featured during the Uravity Janet Challenge.

While solo queue remains an option, coordinated teams of two or three players are expected to have a much easier time completing the challenge.

Stage 1 — Knockout

The Knockout map heavily favors long-range brawlers thanks to its open layout and wide sight lines.

Recommended Picks

Bo

Bo’s long-range attacks allow him to pressure enemies hiding in bushes, while his mines provide strong zoning and stun potential.

Crow

Crow excels at applying constant poison damage and forcing enemies into uncomfortable positions before finishing them with his Super.

Emz

Emz performs especially well on open maps where her attacks can consistently deal maximum damage at range.

Since Knockout does not allow respawns during rounds, survival and positioning will be extremely important.

Stage 2 — Brawl Ball

Unlike Knockout, the Brawl Ball stage favors aggressive close- and mid-range fighters.

Recommended Picks

Cordelius

Cordelius remains one of the strongest Brawl Ball brawlers thanks to his ability to temporarily remove enemies from the match using his Super.

Kenji

Kenji’s mobility and burst damage make him extremely dangerous in tight spaces and fast pushes.

Mortis

Mortis continues to thrive in Brawl Ball due to his fast movement and ability to quickly eliminate weakened enemies.

Stage 3 — Gem Grab

The final stage features a Gem Grab map built around long vertical lanes and strong control over the center area.

Recommended Picks

Piper

Piper’s long-range attacks make her one of the best options for controlling lanes and punishing enemies from a distance.

Leon

Leon’s invisibility and ambush potential are especially effective on maps featuring large bush areas.

Tick

Tick excels at controlling the central gem area by forcing enemies away with constant mine pressure.

A Valuable Free Reward Event

With free cosmetics, Starr Nova-themed rewards, and multiple competitive stages, the Starr Nova Challenge is shaping up to be one of the biggest Brawl Stars events of May 2026.
