Cory Barlog Seemingly Confirmed New God of War Game About Faye

As we know, Santa Monica Studio is officially working on a new God of War title, which will be a God of War: Trilogy Remake starring TC Carson as the original Kratos’ voice actor. The game was officially revealed on PlayStation’s State of Play in February, as was God of War: Sons of Sparta—a 2D platformer and a prequel to the whole franchise.

Nevertheless, it’s been rumored that the studio is also working on, at least, two new God of War installments—the next mainline title, possibly set in Egypt, and a spin-off dedicated to Faye, Kratos’ second wife and the mother of Atreus, who appeared in God of War: Ragnarök. Although Santa Monica Studio hasn’t given any comments on these rumored titles, the studio’s creative director Cory Barlog might have confirmed recent rumors about God of War’s Fate spin-off.

Specifically, he hinted at this during the recent conversation with other users on the Bluesky social media, as you can check out below:

For the context: gaming insider NateTheHate was one of the first scoopers to reveal that Faye will be the main character of the new God of War video game back in March. He also stated that the gameplay will be different from the Norse God of War titles, and an announcement is expected to happen this year, with the release in the first half of 2027. That is why in the conversation on Bluesky there is an insider, and Cory Barlog possibly supports the idea of one of the users hating NateTheHate for revealing unannounced projects.

Last month, MP1st also revealed new details of the upcoming God of War game dedicated to Faye; it is mentioned that the title will explore East Asian mythology and be a prequel to God of War (2018). Despite Fate getting a focus as the main character, Kratos is still expected to appear in a cameo role. Faye will use Merlin, a talking sword, to fight enemies and will have a companion, which is described as a “gelatinous cube.”

Besides multiple God of War games being in development, Amazon is developing a TV show based on God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök, which is currently in production.
