Diablo Immortal and StarCraft Unite in New “Aeon of Stars” Crossover Event

Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced a major crossover between Diablo Immortal and the legendary sci-fi franchise StarCraft. The limited-time event, titled Aeon of Stars, will run from May 13 to June 10, 2026, bringing new enemies, game modes, cosmetics, rewards, and gameplay mechanics inspired by the StarCraft universe.

The Zerg Invade Sanctuary

The crossover transforms parts of Sanctuary into areas overrun by the Zerg Swarm, introducing mutated dungeons, faction-based battles, and large-scale encounters inspired by StarCraft’s iconic conflict.

Players will battle corrupted enemies across several new activities, including:

• Infested Rifts filled with Zerg creatures
• The new Dark Ascension dungeon featuring powerful psionic attacks
• A redesigned Conqueror mode themed around StarCraft factions
• Weekly faction leaderboards

One of the event’s major boss encounters includes the deadly Feral Hydralisk, which players must defeat while using special Psionic Storm abilities during combat.

New Boss Battles and Event Rewards

Aeon of Stars also introduces special encounters against reimagined StarCraft enemies. Players can team up in groups of five to challenge powerful foes such as the Tal’Darim Templar and Ascended Archons.

The event features a four-week reward cycle containing:

• A StarCraft-themed Avatar Frame
• The new Baneboil 2-Star Legendary Gem
• A Queen of Blades Kerrigan-inspired weapon transmog

Players can also progress through the new Koprulu Arsenal reward track by completing event activities and dungeons.

Additional unlockable rewards include:

• StarCraft-inspired portals and stickers
• Kerrigan-themed weapon transmogs
• Legendary gear and set items with selectable affixes

New Legendary Gem: Baneboil

Following previous crossover events like the DOOM collaboration, Blizzard is once again introducing a unique Legendary Gem.

The new Baneboil gem is inspired by the destructive nature of the Zerg and grants several powerful effects:

• Summons explosive Banelings after dealing damage
• Applies corrosive acid effects to enemies
• Increases damage over time effects

The gem can be obtained through the Dark Ascension dungeon during the event.

StarCraft-Themed Cosmetics and Familiars

The crossover also adds several cosmetic items and companion skins inspired by the StarCraft universe.

Highlights include:

• The Queen of Blades Phantom Market cosmetic set
• A Protoss-themed Immortal Familiar skin
• A new Zergling Familiar with unique combat effects

The Zergling companion is expected to become one of the most sought-after additions thanks to its iconic design and gameplay utility.

Special StarCraft Faction Mode

The event also introduces a special version of Conqueror mode, similar to the Slayer’s Bane mode from the DOOM crossover.

Players can choose between StarCraft-inspired factions, each granting unique powers during matches:

• Stim Pack (Terran): Increased movement and attack speed
• Poison (Zerg): Adds poison projectiles and damage-over-time effects
• Shields (Protoss): Grants temporary protective barriers

Only faction-specific orbs tied to the chosen race will appear during matches, adding a strategic layer to gameplay. The mode will also feature weekly faction leaderboards.

Permanent Quality-of-Life Improvements

Alongside the crossover content, Blizzard is also introducing a permanent gameplay improvement to Diablo Immortal.

All players will now have access to all eight gear slots. For players who haven’t unlocked the final two slots yet, default gear will automatically be equipped in those spaces.

With new bosses, themed cosmetics, faction mechanics, and large-scale StarCraft-inspired battles, Aeon of Stars is shaping up to be one of Diablo Immortal’s biggest crossover events so far.
