Recent Leak Reveals Dying Light 3 Might Reportedly Take Place In Japan

After Techland released Dying Light: The Beast last year—a title originally conceived as an expansion to the second installment—the future of the series currently remains unclear. Although the game received positive reviews and proved to be a financial success, a new entry in the series has not yet been officially announced.

At the moment, the studio is busy releasing updates for The Beast, and last month they released a large-scale yet free update called Restored Land, which literally requires the player to rebuild and restore the map to its pre-apocalyptic state. This is a more hardcore mode where zombies do not respawn, and once an area is cleared, it will remain a safe zone forever.

Nevertheless, rumors surrounding Dying Light 3 are beginning to gain momentum. According to a new leak revealed via Best Gamer Ali on YouTube, Techland inadvertently left assets titled 'Asian Street' within the files for Dying Light 2: Stay Human; these files include texture models that resemble a modern Japanese urban district. Furthermore, the events of The Beast remain significant, as the protagonist, Crane, explicitly mentioned that the GRE headquarters are located somewhere in Japan. This strongly suggests that the third installment will be set in the Land of the Rising Sun, focusing on the ongoing conflict between Crane and the GRE.

At the end of last year, speculation also arose that the new Dying Light might feature multiplayer for the first time in the franchise's history, as Techland was seeking a candidate for the position of 'Lead Online Game Designer', as well as job listings for programming, animation, art, design, and publishing, which were also placed.
