Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake Could Be Announced at Summer Game Fest

Although the studio has remained silent on the matter, it has been reported on multiple occasions that Capcom is actively working on a remake of the 2000 Resident Evil Code: Veronica. This project is set to be the franchise’s next major title, with a release tentatively scheduled for next year.

According to the information we already know, the game will be directed by the iconic duo Kazunori Kadoi & Yasuhiro Anpo—the ones who directed Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. Code Veronica remake will also feature a host of new elements compared to the original, including—according to rumors—a bigger focus on Claire than on her brother Chris, a semi-open world, an improved combat system, and the ability to switch between characters at certain points.

Fans are certainly expecting a lot from the game, including an official announcement, and the latest report suggests that the wait won’t be much longer. According to reliable Resident Evil scooper Dusk Golem, Capcom might finally confirm the remake of Code Veronica at the upcoming Summer Game Fest, which is taking place from June 5 to June 8.

“I think it's incredibly likely, but I don't know Capcom's marketing plans, so we'll see.”

In his further posts on X social media, he clarified that he doesn’t know Capcom plans and it’s just a speculation. However, insider believes this is a possibility and also revealed that a mini-game for Resident Evil Requiem will “obviously” be released this month, as was recently teased by Capcom, and story DLC will be confirmed later this year.

Speaking of a story DLC to Requiem, according to the leaker, who previously predicted the plot of the main game, the game will feature two story expansions – one dedicated to Leon S. Kennedy and Alyssa Ashcroft, and the second – to Chris Redfield and Ada Wong.

For now, Capcom hasn’t revealed anything about possible remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and story DLC to Requiem, so these reports should be considered with a grain of salt.
