Captain Phasma Returns to Fortnite as Pass Items Begin Rotating into the Item Shop

Captain Phasma has officially arrived in the Fortnite Item Shop, marking a major shift in how previously exclusive Pass cosmetics are handled. With this return, items from past passes are starting to reappear, no longer locked to their original release windows.

Epic Games has once again teamed up with Disney for a special Star Wars celebration in May, continuing the tradition of in-game events tied to May the Fourth. As expected, players can enjoy themed quests, unique NPCs, and a variety of cosmetics inspired by iconic characters.

Star Wars Content Rolls Out Throughout May

The latest Fortnite update, released on April 30, introduced a wave of Star Wars content. Instead of dropping everything at once, Epic is rolling out features gradually to keep the experience fresh throughout the month.

According to the official roadmap, players were able to claim a free Carbonite Fishstick back bling at launch. This was followed by Clone Wars skins, with a new Mandalorian outfit scheduled for May 21.

Pass Cosmetics Are No Longer Fully Exclusive

Back in 2024, Epic Games announced a major policy change: cosmetics released in passes after August 7, 2024, would no longer remain exclusive forever. Instead, they could return to the Item Shop 18 months after their original pass ended.

Fans expected the first wave of returning items around early May—and that prediction turned out to be accurate. On May 1 at 8 PM ET, Captain Phasma became available in the Item Shop, making her the first cosmetic to return under the new system. Originally, the skin was part of the First Order LEGO Pass.

Pricing and Availability

Captain Phasma is currently available alongside additional themed items:

  • Captain Phasma Outfit – 1,500 V-Bucks
  • Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe – 800 V-Bucks
  • Lil’ Treadspeeder Emote – 500 V-Bucks

Players can purchase items individually for a total of 2,800 V-Bucks, or grab the full bundle for 2,000 V-Bucks. These cosmetics are available until May 5, after which they will rotate out of the shop.

Interestingly, while the Quicksilver Baton Spear was previously given away for free during a past Star Wars event, it is now being sold in the shop. Meanwhile, the Assault on the Death Star loading screen, which was also part of that event, is not currently included.

Mixed Reactions from the Community

The return of Pass cosmetics has sparked mixed reactions among players. Some welcome the opportunity to obtain items they previously missed. Others, however, are unhappy with the change, as Pass rewards were traditionally considered exclusive.

It’s worth noting that this new system only applies to cosmetics released after the 2024 policy update. Items from older passes remain permanently exclusive, meaning longtime players still retain unique rewards that cannot return.
