Naughty Dog Developed Uncharted 5 Before the COVID-19 Pandemic
It’s been almost ten years since the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End—the final adventure of the game series main character, Nathan Drake. The next, fifth installment of Naughty Dog adventure-action has been a subject of speculation, and it is now revealed that the studio actually worked on the game years ago.
As revealed in the newest Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, Naughty Dog had developed Uncharted 5 a few years ago before COVID-19, but the pandemic was the reason why the studio reportedly scrapped the development. It is currently unknown whether Naughty Dog is working on a new Uncharted title, as we know the studio’s new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is in active development. Plus, they might also secretly work on another project, which is rumored to be The Last of Us: Part III. Neil Druckmann, the director of Naughty Dog, recently posted a possible teaser on his Instagram.
Nevertheless, a few days ago we might have received a potential teaser of a new Uncharted title. Specifically, Shaun Escayg, the director of 2017’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, has posted a photo, which looks quite similar to what we used to see in Uncharted games, and signed it as “Research.” The fans have been wondering if this could mean the return of Uncharted game series soon, and given the fact that Naughty Dog used to work on a new title, most likely, a new game is just a matter of time.
