Blizzard Is Working on a New StarCraft Open-World Video Game
There has been some speculation about the new StarCraft video game at Blizzard. Although the studio hasn’t confirmed the fact that the game may be in development, the new job postings on Blizzard's official website make this clear.
As noticed by the gamers, Blizzard is looking to hire a “ Lead Designer, Innovation ” for their upcoming unannounced AAA open-world title. It is revealed the game will also feature Unreal Engine 5, as one of the demands is “proven experience working with the Unreal engine and using Blueprint to create prototypes/game content.” Putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, the next video game set in the StarCraft universe could be an open-world shooter built on Unreal Engine 5—if this is any indication, fans have reason to be excited.
Earlier this year, Jez Corden from Windows Central revealed Blizzard is not finished with StarCraft; the upcoming new title looks similar to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and could be announced during BlizzCon 2026 in September. Another source also added that Blizzard Entertainment is developing the new StarCraft in cooperation with Nexon, the owners of Embark Studios (ARC Raiders, The Finals), with Dan Hay leading the development. Dan Hay has previously worked on multiple Far Cry installments as executive producer and director—so he definitely knows how to work with open-world first-person shooters.
