Rockstar Games Recently Worked with Plenty of Actors on NPC System Development
A recent leak of Grand Theft Auto VI confirmed the game is expected to have a massive, much more advanced NPC dialogue system than in Red Dead Redemption 2. A little more than 6 months remain until the release of the most anticipated video game of 2026, but Rockstar Games is seemingly doing additional work with a big number of actors involved.
Specifically, Reddit user Individual_Block7885 has shared a new leak related to GTA 6 and its NPC dialogue system. According to him, in December of 2025, that is, 3 months ago, Rockstar Games had made around 35,000 extra NPC lines with 300+ voice actors. Furthermore, what makes this report more exciting is that it’s not connected to the game’s story mode, which confirms the main story of Grand Theft Auto VI is finished, and it's about NPC reactions, environmental interactions, stranger’s missions, random world events, etc. More detailed information you can check out from Reddit’s post below:
"Some GTA 6 info on additional voice and location recording
This information comes from someone close to SAG-AFTRA. No one related to rockstar
At least 35,000 additional lines of NPC dialogue were recorded during newer voice sessions recently. This involved over 300 voice actors.
The dialogue is not related to the main storyline, which had already been largely recorded earlier. It focuses on NPC reactions, environmental interactions, and encounters, Strangers & Freaks–type missions and random world events.
Most of the core NPC dialogue was recorded prior to July 2024. After the delay, elements that had previously been cut were revisited and expanded, particularly NPC interaction dialogue.
These additional recording sessions started around early December and wrapped up a few weeks ago.
The exact dialogue is not visible, but recording session labels provide context these are some of the labels there were way more.
“NPC Indoor Reaction to Exit Dialogue” “NPC Outdoor Reaction to Entrance Dialogue” “Additional Interactions” “NPC Scenarios 1–5 Yes Branch” “NPC Scenarios 1–5 No Branch” “NPC Daily Cycle AM” “NPC Daily Cycle PM” “NPC Social Media Response Positive” “NPC Social Media Response Negative”
You can kind of get a idea regarding NPC behavior reacting to different contexts.
To clarify where this info comes from: it's not from someone working at Rockstar or have voice actor.
The information surfaced during a SAG-AFTRA review of voice recording sessions. During the first six weeks, starting December 2nd actors worked four-hour sessions. SAG-AFTRA later required sessions to be reduced to two hours temporarily due to vocal stress regulations, before updated documentation was submitted and sessions returned to four hours.
Separate from the voice sessions, ambient and crowd sound recording also appeared in SAG-AFTRA waiver documentation used for location recording. As you need a waiver, when recording crowds.
Those waivers were submitted in August, with recording taking place in October and November at locations in Florida and Georgia, including:
Moccasin Creek Off Road Park Lani Kai Island Resort Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort Miccosukee Casino & Resort Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa
Additional references included Georgia zip codes 31503 there is a maybe a handful of them
These recordings were submitted through SAG-AFTRA waiver requests, which are standard for certain types of location-based audio recording.
This is some pretty cool stuff; I don't know anything else. I can't really answer anything outside of this."
Considering the latest report that the budget of GTA 6 could be somewhere between $2 and 3 billion, it makes sense that Rockstar Games is doing something crazy with Grand Theft Auto VI, and it might be the biggest video game ever made. We still haven’t received any official information about the game since May 6, 2025, when Rockstar introduced a second trailer of GTA 6. As we know, the game’s marketing campaign starts this summer, so we don’t have to wait for a long period of time to see new content.
For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far, about the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more— here.
