Warhorse Studios Might Be Working on a Lord of the Rings Video Game

Warhorse Studios has made themselves a name thanks to Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise, and especially the second game, which was released last year. We don’t know the studio’s plans about the development of the game series, but according to the new report, their next RPG title may be related to one of the most fan-favorite universes ever.

Specifically, there is information that Warhorse Studios might be working on a AAA game based on the Lord of the Rings franchise. That statement comes from Richard Chojnowski, who recently appeared on Tolkien Polska podcast, where he revealed that he heard this rumor from multiple sources. According to Chojnowski, it will be an open-world RPG with a budget of $100 million—which is definitely exciting news for the fans of Warhorse Studios, Kingdom Come game series, and, of course, Lord of the Rings fans.

It’s interesting that earlier this year, we heard more information about the possible gameplay of a new, massive Lord of the Rings video game. Although it is not stated that Warhorse Studios is responsible for developing it, Warner Bros. Discovery boss JB Perrette has confirmed in the next couple of years we will see the return of the studio’s biggest gaming franchises, with Lord of the Rings surely being one of them.

At this point, Warhorse Studios hasn’t given any comments about possible development of a Lord of the Rings RPG title, so this report still should be considered with a grain of salt.
