Mysterious Resident Evil Requiem Website Turns Out to Be a Fan Purchase
Fans recently discovered a reference to a mysterious website called New Dawn inside the new action-horror game Resident Evil Requiem, sparking speculation that Capcom might be teasing a future announcement or hidden content. However, the story behind the domain turned out to be far less mysterious.
Players first noticed the reference on a computer screen used by Leon Kennedy as a save point in the later stages of the game. The screen displayed the domain NEWDAWN-capcom.com, immediately catching the attention of the community.

Fan Theories Quickly Spread
The discovery quickly fueled speculation among fans. Some believed the name might hint at a return of Albert Wesker, while others tried to connect it to Leon’s license plate or possible future story developments within the series.
However, further investigation revealed that the domain was not connected to Capcom at all.
Domain Purchased by a Resident Evil Fan
Users soon discovered that visiting the website redirected to a contact page belonging to Gabe Follower, a dataminer best known for covering Valve-related games.
In a statement to IGN, Gabe Follower explained that the situation was largely coincidental. As a long-time Resident Evil fan, he noticed that the domain mentioned in the game had not been registered and decided to purchase it himself for around $15 simply for fun.
There were initial ideas to turn the domain into a fake alternate reality game (ARG) inspired by the Resident Evil universe, but the concept was never developed further.
According to Gabe Follower, the domain could be handed over to Capcom if the company decides to request it, meaning the situation could still lead to something official in the future.
