Ubisoft Finally Confirmed the Remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

After the confirmation that Ubisoft has started a restructuring inside the company and, as was confirmed later, cancelled some upcoming projects, including the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, some Assassin’s Creed fans have started to worry about the fate of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced—the remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which is reportedly in development but wasn’t confirmed by the studio. Fortunately, the new report finally addresses the anticipated title.

The new Assassin’s Creed head of content, Jean Guesdon, has released a blog called Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026, which is dedicated to the future of game series, where he finally announced the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag—Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. During the speech, he has mentioned, “Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.” The first art of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was unveiled, and you can check it below:

Unfortunately, Guesdon didn’t mention anything more about the remake, including the release date or even release window. Hopefully, we'll figure out more information soon. According to previous reports, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a full remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag that will use an Anvil engine, which was used in the previous Assassin’s Creed titles, and will also provide a new combat system and add new content.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is reportedly in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with the release date remaining unknown.
