CD Project RED are Activiely Working on Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

CD Project RED made themselves who they are thanks to the The Witcher videogame franchise. They are currently working on The Witcher 4 which will pass the baton from Geralt of Rivia to Ciri and expected to become the biggest The Witcher entry ever. However, it's not the only game developers are working on.

Back in October 2022, CD Project RED officially confirmed Cyberpunk 2. The game is currently having codename Project Orion and this May it officially entered pre-production stage. We also know Cyberpunk 2 will have a new city to explore that will look similar to Chicago, but the gamers also will be able to see Night City, from original game.

We haven't heard much about Cyberpunk 2 for a while, but new report says the game is currently "in the middle of the development". Also, the developers are looking to hire some new workers for upcoming sequel. Specifically they are looking for Lead UI Artist, Lead Technical Animator, Lead Engine Programmer, Motion Capture Lead and Lead Lighting Artist, Moreover, all candidates must have 7-8+ experience.

Cyberpunk 2 currently doesn't have a release date. Considering the game entered pre-production stage this year and The Witcher 4 will be released earlier, the game is likely to be released somewhere in 2030 or 2031. It's also important to say the game will use Unreal Engine 5, not REDengine 4 like Cyberpunk 2077 used. The platforms for the game are also unknown at the moment.
