New Overwatch 2 Event Exclusive to China

Overwatch 2 is preparing to launch an exciting music festival event — but there’s a catch: it will only be available to players in China. The game is currently midway through Season 18, which introduced support hero Wuyang and featured a high-profile collab with NBA star Luka Dončić, rewarding players with 77 loot boxes through in-game challenges.

🎤 Music-Themed Events in Overwatch 2

This isn’t the first time Blizzard has explored music-driven collaborations. In 2023, Overwatch 2 partnered with K-pop group LE SSERAFIM, debuting hero skins inspired by the group’s members. The collab returned earlier this year with additional skins for Mercy, Juno, Ashe, Illari, and D.Va, while also reopening access to the original set.

Beyond music, 2025 has been a packed year for crossovers, featuring G.I. Joe, Street Fighter 6, NERF, and one of the most notable yet — Persona 5’s Phantom Thieves.

🌐 The Neon Pulse Festival: China-Only Launch

The upcoming Neon Pulse Music Festival will go live on September 24, but only in the Chinese version of Overwatch 2.

  • 🎮 The event centerpiece is “Rhythmwatch”, a rhythm-based mini-game briefly shown in the official trailer.
  • 🎟️ A special festival pass will be available, featuring unique rewards.
  • 👕 The highlight is a collection of five Neon Pulse festival skins for Ashe, Juno, Mercy, Pharah, and Sombra.

While the event itself is region-locked, Blizzard confirmed that the five skins will be available worldwide, most likely through store bundles. However, players outside China may miss out on the rhythm mini-game and additional festival pass rewards.

📅 What’s Next for Season 18

Despite some disappointment over regional exclusivity, Overwatch 2 is still packed with content:

  • 🎭 The Persona 5 Phantom Thieves crossover remains active until September 29.
  • 🎉 The Anniversary 2025 event is live, bringing back legacy game modes and Overwatch Classic weekly until October 13.
  • 🔜 Looking ahead, Season 19 is scheduled to launch on October 14, bringing fresh updates and likely another round of collaborations.

✨ For global players, the wait is on to see whether Blizzard eventually brings the Neon Pulse rhythm experience beyond China. Until then, the new skins will at least keep the international fanbase in tune with the festival spirit.
