🛒 Why This Matters

The Fortnite Item Shop refreshes daily at 8 PM ET, offering new and returning cosmetics. But players often face a frustrating problem: being just a few hundred V-Bucks short. Until now, the only option was to purchase larger V-Bucks packs, like the 1,000 V-Bucks card for $8.99, which often left players with either too much or too little leftover currency.

This led to years of community requests for a more flexible system — and Epic Games is finally delivering.

✨ New V-Bucks Purchase Option

Starting October 14, 2025, players will be able to top up their balance with the exact amount needed for a purchase:

  • Fortnite & Rocket League → Add currency in increments of 50 V-Bucks.
  • Fall Guys → Add currency in increments of 100 units.

This option will appear directly in the Item Shop checkout when players don’t have enough currency for their chosen cosmetic or bundle.

📌 Important note: This feature won’t be available for standalone top-ups outside the shop — it only activates during an Item Shop transaction.

🌍 Supported Platforms

The update will roll out on:

  • Xbox
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PC
  • Android
  • iOS
  • Fortnite Web Shop

Not yet available on PlayStation — Epic says it’s working to bring the feature to Sony’s platform soon. In the meantime, PlayStation users can use the Fortnite Web Shop to make exact purchases.

💰 Cost vs Value

While this change gives players more flexibility, it comes with a small catch:

  • Exact V-Bucks purchases cost $1 for every 100 V-Bucks.
  • This is ~10% more expensive compared to the cheapest pack ($8.99 for 1,000 V-Bucks).
  • Larger packs will still offer bonus currency and remain the best value for frequent buyers.

In short, cards and packs aren’t going anywhere, but this new option provides an easy way to grab that last-minute skin or emote without overspending.

🔑 The Bottom Line

This update makes spontaneous cosmetic purchases easier than ever and will likely increase spending across Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys. After years of requests, players can finally avoid the frustration of missing out on an Item Shop cosmetic for just a few V-Bucks.
