Wolfenstein 2 Cut Hitler Scene Revealed as MachineGames Teases Third Game
A new episode of Noclip’s documentary series has uncovered surprising details about Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. Developers from MachineGames admitted they considered showing Adolf Hitler in full frontal nudity during the infamous Venus audition scene. The revelation came alongside broader discussion of how the studio balances dark humor with the harsh realities of its alternate-history world.
It also ties into speculation about where the series is heading next, as MachineGames has already suggested that a possible sequel is still on the table.
In Wolfenstein 2, protagonist BJ Blazkowicz infiltrates a Nazi facility on Venus by auditioning for the role of himself in a propaganda film. During the sequence, players encounter an aged and paranoid Hitler, who shuffles through the room mumbling about conspiracies while executing actors that fail to impress him. The Fuhrer urinates on the floor during the scene, part of the game’s exaggerated portrayal of his decline. According to the developers, the original concept went further.
Studio head Jerk Gustafsson revealed that MachineGames briefly considered taking the depiction to another level.
"We actually wanted to add another element," Gustafsson said. "We wanted to actually show Hitler's penis as well, when he was peeing. But that was something that was a little bit too much, so we decided to skip that one." — Jerk Gustafsson
The idea, while provocative, was ultimately set aside. Co-founder Jens Matthies explained that the design team initially thought it would reinforce the physical and degrading portrayal of Hitler, already shown eating, vomiting, and stumbling around the room.
"The thinking was, okay, he's gonna be extremely physical. He's eating, oh shit, he has to take a piss," Matthies said. "He's puking at one point. It's a very physical entity. So I had this idea that, well, maybe we just see it!" — Jens Matthies
That version of the scene never made it past early conversations, largely because of a discussion with a Bethesda executive. Matthies recalled asking whether it would be a problem to show such an image. The response was immediate.
"Do you think there would be a problem if we see Hitler's penis?" Matthies remembered asking. "He was like, 'Yeah, I don't advise doing that.' I was like, yeah, you're probably right. Maybe that's too much." — Jens Matthies
The developers now look back on the decision as the right one, with Matthies reflecting on the need to set creative boundaries. "It's important to find the line. We all need to be saved from ourselves sometimes." His comment highlights how even in a series built on over-the-top violence and satire, there are moments where restraint serves the story better than escalation.

The scene itself remains one of the most memorable parts of Wolfenstein 2, emblematic of MachineGames’ approach to blending shock value with narrative tension. Players already found the Venus encounter intense and absurd, and adding more could have tipped it into pure spectacle without deepening the impact. The team’s willingness to discuss these cut ideas provides insight into how far they push concepts internally before scaling them back for release.
This discussion also feeds into speculation about where the franchise is heading. MachineGames has long described its Wolfenstein reboot as a trilogy, moving from the Moon base of The New Order to the Venus setting of The New Colossus. Recent comments from the studio have fueled talk of a third game, with director statements suggesting there is still more story left to tell. Source 2 notes that a new documentary has sparked speculation about a long-awaited continuation, although nothing has been officially announced.
Fans of the series are watching closely. The idea of another Wolfenstein would mean a continuation of BJ Blazkowicz’s fight against a fascist world order, while giving MachineGames a chance to escalate its environments and set pieces even further. After Earth, the Moon, and Venus, expectations are high for how the next entry could raise the stakes.
For now, the reveal about the scrapped Hitler scene underscores the extremes the developers were willing to consider in their effort to shock and unsettle. At the same time, the renewed speculation about a sequel suggests MachineGames is not finished with Wolfenstein yet. The combination of provocative storytelling and ambitious world design remains at the core of the franchise, and fans may not have to wait too long to see where it goes next.
