Gothic Classic Set to Launch on iOS and Consoles Later This Year

THQ Nordic has announced that its acclaimed action RPG Gothic Classic will release on iOS and consoles later this year. Originally developed by Piranha Bytes, the game was previously ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2023 and remains a key title in the Gothic franchise, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Gothic Classic is widely regarded as one of the most influential RPGs of its time, shaping many elements seen in modern role-playing games. The updated version brings enhanced visuals and improved design, offering both longtime fans and new players a chance to experience the game in a refreshed form. Story and Setting

The story unfolds in the Kingdom of Myrtana, which is under siege by orc forces. To sustain the war effort, King Rhobar II orders increased mining operations in the Khorinis mines. However, a magical barrier intended to control prisoners spirals out of control, trapping everyone inside and turning the area into a lawless colony ruled by inmates.

Players take on the role of the Nameless Hero, navigating this dangerous environment while trying to survive and ultimately escape.

The core gameplay revolves around survival and decision-making within a world divided by three rival factions, each offering different alliances and paths forward. Players must carefully choose whom to trust while progressing through the story.
