Terminator 2D: No Fate Delayed to October 31 — But That Might Be a Good Thing

Terminator 2D: No Fate, the upcoming pixel-art run-and-gun title from Bitmap Bureau, has officially been delayed to October 31, 2025. Originally set for release on September 5, the game will now launch later to allow time for both physical and digital versions to debut simultaneously.

A Retro-Inspired Adventure Through Time

Announced in February 2025, No Fate is heavily inspired by iconic side-scrollers like Contra, Shinobi, and Metal Slug, but it brings its own creative flair. Set in the world of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the game will let players control T-800, Sarah Connor, and John Connor across a series of alternate timelines and storylines — some based on the film, others exploring new “untold” events.

Despite its retro aesthetic, No Fate offers modern polish with dynamic visuals, fast-paced action, and a storyline that blends familiar moments with surprising twists.

Why the Delay Happened — And Why It's Not Bad News

The delay, announced via Bitmap Bureau’s official X (Twitter) account, isn't due to bugs or development setbacks. Instead, the team revealed that the physical editions of the game won't be ready in time, and they’ve chosen to push the digital release to match. Rather than rush one version out, they’re using this window to fine-tune mechanics and visuals, aiming for the most refined experience possible.

For fans, this is a rare instance where a delay could actually benefit the final product.

A Crowded October Won’t Overshadow No Fate

October 2025 is packed with major releases — including Ghost of Yotei, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Ninja Gaiden 4, and The Outer Worlds 2. But Terminator 2D: No Fate stands apart as a niche, retro-inspired project that caters to a dedicated fanbase rather than the mainstream market. That means less pressure, less competition, and more room for the game to shine in its own lane.

More Terminator on the Way

Fans of the franchise also have another title on the horizon: Terminator: Survivors, an open-world survival game set in the aftermath of Judgment Day. While Survivors doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, it’s expected to launch sometime in 2025, adding a very different flavor to the Terminator gaming universe.
