Fortnite’s New Blitz Royale Mode Launches June 18 — Leaks Hint at Crossovers, Roguelike Gameplay & More

Fortnite is gearing up for a major content drop on June 18, and one of the biggest highlights is the debut of a brand-new game mode: Blitz Royale. Several well-known Fortnite leakers have begun revealing what players can expect from this fast-paced, mobile-friendly experience—and there’s a lot to be excited about.

What Is Blitz Royale?

Announced alongside Chapter 6 Season 3, Blitz Royale is a new battle royale mode for up to 32 players. Designed with mobile users in mind, each match will last approximately five minutes, delivering intense, quickfire action with roguelike elements—a notable twist for Fortnite.

Although optimized for mobile, Blitz Royale will support full crossplay, meaning players on all platforms—from consoles to PC to mobile—can jump in together. Importantly, Epic Games is treating Blitz Royale as a permanent addition, not just a limited-time mode.

Leaks Suggest Weekly Updates and Major Collaborations

According to trusted leaker ShiinaBR, Blitz Royale will receive weekly content updates during its first month.

These updates could include crossover events with iconic franchises such as:

• 🌊 Avatar: The Last Airbender

Meanwhile, HYPEX reported that Dragon Ball-themed mythic items might be featured in the new mode, continuing Fortnite’s tradition of integrating popular anime content with skins, powers, and even map locations.

No Ranked Mode at Launch

Leaker Loolo_WRLD shared that Blitz Royale will not include a ranked mode at launch. While some of Fortnite’s previous modes have ranked options, Epic Games recently shut down the ranked version of Fortnite OG Zero Build due to matchmaking issues. By keeping Blitz Royale unranked for now, Epic may be aiming to preserve matchmaking quality during its early rollout.

LEGO Fortnite Expeditions Also Arrives June 18

Blitz Royale isn’t the only attraction coming mid-June. LEGO Fortnite Expeditions is launching on the same day and will feature three new Hero Classes, likely inspired by Chapter 6 Season 3’s superhero theme. Players will be able to access Expeditions from bus stations located in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey and Brick Life.
