As part of the game’s Closed Alpha one-year anniversary, the developers are rolling out new content, including the return of the Season 0 Battle Pass and these highly-anticipated cards.

🧩 What Are Chrono Shield Cards?

Chrono Shield Cards are consumable items used in competitive mode to prevent players from losing rank points or deranking after a defeat. When activated, they instantly trigger the Chrono Shield mechanic, overriding any cooldown or charge requirements.

Key Details:

• Automatically activates upon a loss (if no shield is active)
• Prevents point loss or demotion
• Won’t activate if your regular Chrono Shield is already in use
• Cards expire at the end of the season
• Usable only by players in Gold rank or below
• Item cap: 20 cards per player

These cards are already creating buzz in the community, as they offer a safety net for players struggling with ranked pressure.

🎁 How to Get Chrono Shield Cards

Chrono Shield Cards can’t be purchased — they are event-exclusive. The only way to earn them currently is through the upcoming Galacta’s Gift event, starting May 15, 2025.

To unlock them:

• Play matches in Quick Play, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI
• Progress through event objectives to claim your rewards

The devs have confirmed these will not appear in the in-game shop, keeping access limited to participation.

Some concerns have emerged around the possibility of players abusing the system by throwing matches without fear of consequences. However, the developers addressed this, clarifying that the system is intentionally limited to lower ranks to reduce the pressure for newer or casual players entering ranked matches.

“The purpose is to allow lower-ranked players to enter ranked mode with even less pressure,” the devs stated.
