Paradox has officially unveiled Europa Universalis V
Paradox Interactive has officially announced the continuation of its famous global strategy series — Europa Universalis V. The project has been in development for over five years, led by the studio Paradox Tinto.
The fifth installment will bring numerous significant changes. The game’s start date is moving to 1337, the map will feature a more accurate projection, and the population, diplomacy, economy, and other systems will be greatly expanded. Players will have the opportunity to control any community — from powerful empires to small local tribes.
According to the developers, Europa Universalis V stays true to the core concept of the series — developing nations in a historically accurate world — but now offers more diplomatic options, reworked economic models, new military systems, and improved logistics. All these innovations are expected to pose a serious challenge even for veteran players.

The engine for the game has not yet been officially confirmed by Paradox Interactive. However, it’s known that recent Paradox projects (such as Crusader Kings III and Victoria 3) use Clausewitz Engine 2 (Clausewitz + Jomini Framework), the updated version of their proprietary engine. This suggests that fans can expect a notable boost in graphics and a more flexible, user-friendly interface. Additionally, it greatly simplifies mod development — always an important part of Paradox games.
The game will be available exclusively on PC via Steam, but the exact release date has yet to be announced.
The previous entry, Europa Universalis IV (2013), was highly successful and received numerous expansions. Even today, it continues to attract players with its engaging mechanics and historical depth. Therefore, this refined new chapter, with its expanded systems and even greater gameplay possibilities, has every chance to become another iconic installment in the Europa Universalis series.
